Spending the day looking at clothes reminded me that I had not updated this damn thing in forever.

The other projects that I’ve got my hand in are taking up most of that time.

I’ve been liking what they have been putting out recently.  While some of their shirts are simply logo shirts,  the items that are not are rocking.

From socks, to beanies, to die cut scout belts the accessories they are adding to the line make this brand stand out.

Really, that’s all I got.  Like I said, they can’t all be gold.

In this heat, this is my favorite shoe right now.  Bold and light weight.  The mesh toe box is my favorite part of this shoe, and the tri-color sole is a nice touch.

Caps

I like a good cap, but the majority of most lines use the cap pieces as a little billboard simply pasting their logo across it.  One of these caps no doubt is a logo cap, but done in a good way.  The second just carries a good message.

Best part of this cap?  Stitched underneath the visor, it reads “Success is when talent meets hard work”.  This is a custom design for basketball player Blake Griffin.

I’ve got to say that I’ve been let down recently by my searches for tees lately.  Also the amount of designs Obey puts out is crazy. Too bad none of them are really eye catching.

This one from Another Enemy did catch my eye.  I don’t know what it has been about girls on tees lately that has me buying them.

Toys

On their forum, Kidrobot committed to updating us every two weeks on upcoming releases.  SGT. ROBOT is the newest incarnation of their logo boy. This is set to be releases on June 4th with 600 in each color.

In the department of OH HELL YEAH!

On May 14th, Kidrobot is going to release the list for their ( seemingly annual ) scavenger hunt. I’ve entered the last two years. The first, everybody got at least something for trying. The second year, wasn’t as fun. This year, it’s all photos!

Inkwell, I feel in love with the second album “These Stars are Monsters” and have waited 3 years for this 3rd album.  Rivers of Blood and Sadness delivers on all levels.  It is one of those albums I can just put on and listen all the way through.

I have been obsessed with the lead singers voice since Metric since I heard her earlier last week on NPR’s All Songs Considered. Check out the video to one of their songs in the videos section.

This week, I have two shirts here from Jeepney.  Aside from the sweet tees, what I really like about this brand is that they divide their on-line store in to two sections, their street store and their pride store.

So a little something interesting about watches I found out a while back.

Analog watches as well as clocks are often marketed showing a display time of approximately 10:09 or 10:10. This creates a visually pleasing smile-like face on upper half of the watch. Digital displays often show a time of 12:38, where the increases in the numbers from left to right culminating in the fully-lit numerical display of the 8 also gives a positive feeling.^[6][7]

Knowing that a leather band is out of the question, that only left me with metals  such as titanium, and gold or synthetics such as nylon, and plastic.  Well, me being me, the metals are out as well. Not that I don’t want one, it is just not what I am looking for at the moment.

This leaves me with synthetics. My choices come down to pretty much nylon or rubber.

So in my search for a new watch I came across a few of them that really caught my eye.  Granted the two Nixons are just different colorways of each other.  The Flüd watch by far is my favorite at this moment.

Maybe another day I will write about choosing a metal band for a watch.

A few weeks ago while watching KarmaloopTV, the host dug in to Oakley for their line Wayfarer sun glasses. My first impression was “those trend spotting jerks!”. But that a got me thinking on the history of the frames.

So this is where it all started.

First a bit of history.  This is from the Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray-Ban_Wayfarer), so take that as a disclaimer.

Wayfarers were designed in 1952 by optical designer Raymond Stegeman, who procured dozens of patents for Bausch and Lomb, Ray-Ban’s parent company.^[8] The design was a radically new shape, “a mid-century classic to rival Eames chairs and Cadillac tail fins.”^[6] According to design critic Stephen Bayley, the “distinctive trapezoidal frame spoke a non-verbal language that hinted at unstable dangerousness, but one nicely tempered by the sturdy arms which, according to the advertising, gave the frames a ‘masculine look.’”^[6] Wayfarers, which took advantage of new plastic molding technology,^[6][4] marked the transition between a period of eyewear with thin metal frames and an era of plastic eyewear.^[9]

So Ray-ban used to be part of Bausch and Lamb. They sold off Ray-ban to Luxottica ( an Italian company ). Oakley also happens to be a part of the same company.

At this point, I’m wondering what the differences there are between the Ray Ban Wayfarer and Oakley Frogskins.  From the two pictures below, there are some slight differences.  I’ve read in some forums that the Frogskins are a re-issue of something Oakley did previously.

After all of that, I wish I had seen this combo last summer. Even if neither is really my style.

A little Random

So after a failed order of a round of Purple Geckos by a friend, everybody seemed to know something was wrong with the drink, but nobody really knew what was missing. So for future reference, here is a proper recipe for a Purple Gecko.

Purple Gecko

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 oz Tequila
• 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
• 1/2 oz red Curacao
• 1 oz Cranberry juice
• 1 oz Sour mix
• 1/2 oz Lime juice

Mixing instructions:

Shake with ice and pour into salt-rimmed cocktail or margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Done.

So yay! Another week down and another post out. My exercise in keeping a schedule is going well so far.
